Statement of Non-Discrimination

History:

In 2013, the parents and leaders of Pack 345 felt that the National Boys Scouts of America's position, which required the prohibition of LGBTQ scouts and leaders in Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts, was unjust. They wrote a letter to the National Council, titled, "Letter to the National Council Regarding Policy on Homosexuality."

The Pack Committee also adopted a new policy: "2013 Cub Scout Pack 345 Statement of Non-Discrimination".

Both the policy and the letter noted that Pack 345 was rejecting the National organization's prohibition of LGBTQ leaders and scouts, and explained that, as a diverse pack, we would continue to select our leaders solely based on their behavior, integrity and character. Further, we would welcome any scout, regardless of their sexual orientation.

In 2015, the national board of the Boy Scouts of America removed all its restrictions regarding the sexual orientation of Scouts and Scout leaders. Pack 345 applauded that decision by re-affirming their 2013 Statement of Non-Discrimination.

Today:

Today, we are happy that the National policy matches the practice that Pack 345 has held since inception: we welcome any scout and any adult leader, regardless of their sexual orientation, into our pack. We continue to evaluate leaders solely on their behavior, integrity and character.

We have an updated 2020 Cub Scout Pack 345 Statement of Non-Discrimination, which was adopted by our Pack Committee on August 31, 2020. A Scout is Brave, and we will continue bravely face any form of discrimination that threatens the diversity and inclusivity of Pack 345.
