FISHING DERBY MAY 10

We're planning a pack event in September to teach kids how to fish. In the meantime, for those Cubs who already have their own gear the Marin Rod & Gun Club is sponsoring a Scout fishing derby on Saturday, May 10, 9am-1pm. Registration required by May 5. See flyer for more details:

GOLDEN GATE MEMORIAL FLAG PLANTING MAY 24

This is reliably (and somewhat inexplicably) one of the favorite events of the year for the kids.

On the Saturday before Memorial Day, we honor our fallen veterans by placing American flags on

the headstones of the National Cemetery in the Presidio. The address is 1 Lincoln Blvd. in the

Presidio (note that this is NOT the Lincoln Blvd. next to Golden Gate Park!). Please arrive

by 8:45am so we can gather the pack. The ceremony will start promptly at 9am.

BLUE & GOLD BANQUET JUNE 1

Our biggest party of the year! At the Blue & Gold Banquet and the Crossing-Over Ceremony,

we'll award the kids their rank badges and say goodbye to our Webelos 2 kids. We'll have

a potluck dinner in a beautiful room in the Elk's Lodge downtown, close to Union Square.

Please let me know if you'd be willing to help plan the potluck. More details to come!

SUMMER ACTIVITIES

Even though we don't meet in the summer, Pack 345 has a tradition of gathering once a month or so for the kids to play. Here's what we have on the calendar right now. We'll likely add one or two more events before we gather again in the fall:

Sun 6/22 -- Smokey Robinson concert at Stern Grove, 9am - 4pm, free

Sat 7/12 -- Scout Day at the SF Giants

Sat 7/19-Sun 7/20 -- overnight camping at Civil War Days near Guerneville

Fri 9/5 -- first pack meeting of the new school year

A NOTE ABOUT RECRUITING

If you have friends who would like to join our pack, let me know! Some new kids -- mostly

younger siblings -- will start in June at the Blue & Gold Banquet and participate in summertime

activities. It's easiest for new families to begin at the first pack meeting in September, though

they are welcome to join any time.

OFFICIAL COUNCIL CAMPING WEEKENDS

The local councils offer many opportunities for weekend and summertime camping. Some are aimed at specific age groups, and others are for the whole family.

For those of you who have been to Camp Mather or Lair of the Bear, it's much the same feeling but with more organized activities for the kids. Note that these weekends are organized by the council and have costs associated with them. Please check the pack website for more details on each:
