Route #1: North Beach

Rules

(1) Everyone must stay at least six feet apart from one another unless you are with your brothers/sisters or parents

(2) Everyone must always wear a face mask

(3) Everyone should have a small bottle of hand sanitizer and use it should you come in contact with outside surfaces 

(4) Be sure to have the Essential 6 with you at all times!

(5) Wear your Class A or Class B uniform

The whole route is approximately 4.42 miles.

Numbers in (xx) are references to scavenger hunt questions (see below!)


Route:

Starting at the SW corner of Washington Square park [Union and Columbus]. (1)

Go along Washington Square to the NE corner of the park at Filbert & Stockton. (2) East on Filbert up to Grant. (3) North on Grant.

Just after Chestnut (at Pfeiffer) take small path up to Jack Early Park, a secluded lookout spot with bay views. (4)

Go back down from the small park and continue on Grant up to Francisco.

West on Francisco up to Stockton.

North on Stockton up to Beach. (5), (6)

East on Beach, cross over The Embarcadero.

Make way through Pier 39 tourist shops (7) and go to the very end of the pier to check out the lion seals. (8), (9)

Go back to The Embarcadero and turn right (West), pass by the tour boats. (10), (11)                                                                                                  Pass by the closed Musee Mecanique at Pier 45 and keep going straight ahead (West) to the end of the street where you will find the Fisherman’s & Seamen’s Memorial Chapel. (12) 

Walk back along the wooden plank dock where fishing boats are tied up. ((13), (14) Continue on the walkway looping behind the Fisherman’s Wharf restaurants, end up on Jefferson.

Turn right (West on Jefferson), pass by In-N-Out, (15) Hyde Street Pier, continue along the Aquatic Park walkway. At Van Ness turn right (North) and go to end of Muni Pier. (16)  

Head back to Washington Square by going on Beach-Columbus-Powell
