Memorial Day flag planting Saturday, 5.20.2014

Post date: May 20, 2014 9:12:03 PM

Each year on the Saturday before Memorial Day, our pack helps place American flags on the graves of veterans.

We will meet this Saturday morning at the San Francisco Nation Cemetery in the Presidio.

Please arrive by 8:45am in full uniform, neatly dressed, and hair combed.

We'll meet on the grass in front of the flagpole. When you arrive, you may check in with me for your son to receive a patch.

The flag raising ceremony begins at 9am promptly. Afterward, the Cubs race across the cemetery planting flags. Normally a light lunch (hot dogs and chips) is provided afterward. The event is done by 11:30am.

If your son has a service project requirement to fulfill, this event can count.

The entrance to the cemetery is at the corner of Lincoln Blvd & Sheridan Blvd in the Presidio. If you use GPS, be sure it does not send you to the Lincoln Blvd that borders Golden Gate Park.

On Monday (Memorial Day) there will be a parade and service. If would like to return privately, the parade is at 10:30am Monday starting at the Main Post and the ceremony is at 11am Monday at the flagpole.

Thanks,

Mike Conte
