Hap Velleno of Troop 3 planted 12 geocaches around San Francisco, each one representing one of the points of the Scout Law. Each of these three routes will take you to visit 2 or 3 of the geocaches.

This will show you all 12 of the geocaching points. Be sure to pick the correct geocaching points for the hiking route you've chosen!

Route description:
Starting from the Ferry Building, search out Cache 7 (Obedient). Be sure to take a photo to submit later on!
After finding and photographing Cache 7, head north along the Embarcadero, towards Pier 3.
When you get to Pier 27, start looking for Cache 8 (Cheerful). Snap a photo once you find it!
Continue north/west along Embarcadero, continuing to Pier 45. Look for Cache 9 (Thrifty), and be sure to take a photo.
You can return along Embarcadero to the starting point, or walk back along Columbus Ave if you want a change of scenery.

Terrain: Uphill, turnaround, downhill

Route description:
Starting from the Sunnyside Conservatory (236 Monterrey Blvd, SF), search out Cache 3 (Helpful). Be sure to take a photo to submit later on!
After finding and photographing Cache 3, head north through the garden, across Joost and north through the Baden/Joost Street Mini Park.
Continue north along Nordhoff St, jogging east on Stillings Ave, and then north again on Martha Ave to Congo St.
Continue on Congo St, across Bosworth, and then enter Glen Park. Continue past the tennis courts, and turn right and go up the stairs. Then turn left to start up the road that goes into the canyon.
Continue hiking up the canyon trail until you reach Cache 4 (Friendly). Be sure to snap a photo!
Turn around and start your return trip back down the canyon. You may want to walk on the easterly path on the way back down for a change of scenery.
When you get to Pier 27, start looking for Cache 8 (Cheerful). Snap a photo once you find it!
Continue back out of Glen Park, back south along Congo, Martha and Nordhoff St to your starting point at Sunnyside Conservatory. Alternately, you can detour along Bosworth to the shops of Glen Park for a coffee or treat.

Route description:
Starting from the corner of Cabrillo St and La Playa St, search out Cache 1 (Trustworthy). Get a photo to upload later!
Start north on La Playa St, turn left on Balboa St and then right on the sidewalk (closest to the beach) of Great Highway.
Continue north along Point Lobos Ave towards the Cliff House. At the start of the trail down to Sutro Baths, turn left and go down the trail (this is just before the site of the former Louis's Restaurant).
At the 4-way trail intersection, continue straight and slightly to the right on the Sutro Baths Upper Trail. Stop at the Point Lobos overlook and enjoy the view.
Continue ascending the Sutro Baths Upper Trail up to the intersection with the Lands End Trail. Turn left on the Lands End Trail.
Continue on the Lands End Trail, turning left on the Coastal Trail. Continue on the Coastal trail for approximately 0.5 miles.
At the 3 way trail intersection, turn left and head uphill. If you get to the point where there are stairs down to the left that go to the Mile Rock Beach, you've gone just a bit too far.
Follow this trail around the golf course, turning right when you reach Lincoln Hwy. Begin your search for Cache 11 (Clean). Be sure to take a photo!
After taking your photo, return to El Camino Del Mar, turning left and following the parking area / road all the way to the dead end, where the Coastal Trail starts again.
Continue on the Coastl Trail all the way past the USS San Francisco Memorial, and ultimately to the intersection of Point Lobos Ave and El Camino Del Mar. Cross Point Lobos Ave and pick up the (paved) trail again. Continue directly straight through Sutro Heights Park.
Continue straight onto the La Playa Trail (it may be useful to review the Sutro Heighs Park map)
Continue down the La Playa Trail until it dead ends at Balboa St. Return to your car from here.
