Dues and Fees Explainer

Unfortunately, annual dues are a confusing topic, so we've created this page to explain how the cost breaks down.  Annual dues consist of a portion paid to BSA national, the Golden Gate Area Council, and our pack specifically.

When you join, you'll fill out an application and pre-pay:

• The national ($80) portion.

• The council ($68) portion.

• A one-time new member joining fee ($25).

• An optional Scout's Life magazine subscription ($15).

• A 3% administrative fee on the total.

You will then need to separately pay the pack portion of the dues, which is $142 for the 2023-2024 Scout Year.  You can pay pack dues by sending $142 via Zelle to pack345sf@gmail.com ("Cub Scout Pack 345") or handing in cash or a check (payable to "Cub Scout Pack 345") to any adult leader.

On your second and subsequent years, you'll receive an email 60 days before your anniversary to pay that year's dues.  We'll also make announcements and send email notices for that year's pack dues, which you'll also pay separately.

What do the dues pay for?

National:

• Maintenance of the advancement tracking systems

• Training material and supporting systems for adult leaders

• Background checks

• Liability/accident insurance

• Handbooks

Council:

• Campsites

• Training

• AB506 adult leader fingerprinting

Pack:

• Awards

• Pinewood Derby & Raingutter Regatta Kits

• Blue & Gold

• Campground Reservations

• Pack T-Shirt & Neckerchief
